The highly anticipated two-player mode is finally coming to Elden Ring Nightreign. This new feature, which From Software will introduce on July 30 with update 1.02, will allow players to tackle challenges as a duo without needing a third participant. Previously, players could only start matches solo or in groups of three, forcing duos to either team up with a random third player or find an additional person to join.
While a PC mod already offered two-player functionality, this update makes the feature officially available to all players across all platforms. Game director Junya Ishizaki had previously stated that the focus on three-player teams was a balancing decision but later admitted that a two-player mode was “simply something that was overlooked during development” and that the team was actively working on implementing it.
This update is particularly timely given the recent success of Elden Ring Nightreign, which has shipped over 5 million units, while the original Elden Ring has sold more than 30 million copies, making the franchise From Software`s most commercially successful to date.
