Double Fine Pays Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne with Brutal Legend Free Offer

In tribute to the late rock-and-roll icon Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath, game developer Double Fine made their acclaimed title, Brutal Legend, available for free on PC for exactly 666 minutes. Osbourne`s distinctive voice and likeness were prominently featured in the game through characters like The Guardian of Metal and Dadbat, making this a fitting homage.

Double Fine announced this limited-time offer on BlueSky, emphasizing that the giveaway was `to honor Ozzy`s larger-than-life rock and roll legacy.` It was a brief window of opportunity that quickly concluded after its publication.

Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away on July 22, 2025, had performed his final show with Black Sabbath just weeks prior at the `Back to the Beginning` concert in England, as reported by the New York Times. For over two decades, he and his wife, Sharon, were instrumental in orchestrating the annual Ozzfest tour. Beyond Black Sabbath, Osbourne also forged a highly successful solo career and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on two separate occasions.

Ozzy Osbourne`s Presence in Video Games

Brutal Legend was not the only video game to feature the legendary musician. Ozzy Osbourne also made an appearance in Guitar Hero World Tour, where players could perform his hits `Crazy Train` and `Mr. Crowley.` Furthermore, his music has graced other notable game titles, including Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and various installments of the Madden series.
