The former Disco Elysium developers at Dark Math Games have announced a new name for their upcoming project, previously known as XXX Nightshift. The original title did not align with the detective RPG genre and could be misleading about its content, evoking associations with adult material. The game will now be called Tangerine Antarctic.
The name change isn`t the only alteration. Dark Math Games also revealed that the isometric gameplay has been abandoned in favor of a third-person perspective. As for the new name, Tangerine Antarctic refers to an exclusive Antarctic hotel where the game`s story unfolds. This very location is set to become the scene of a murder amidst a raging blizzard.
Tangerine Antarctic is a single-player experience where the plot`s progression is influenced by player choices. Players are invited to investigate the case at their own pace and can also choose a partner to assist them in finding clues and identifying suspects. There are numerous ways to unravel this mystery, and having a companion opens up various investigative approaches.
Furthermore, players will have access to a “maboul kit” to prepare for interrogations, confrontations, and seductions. However, the game`s description warns of potential side effects, noting that “there`s always a price to pay.”
Tangerine Antarctic is currently available to wishlist on Steam for PC. A release date has not yet been announced.
