Destiny 2 The Edge Of Fate The Desert Perpetual Raid Race Start Date, Duration, And Epic Raid Details

Bungie has announced details for the upcoming “The Edge of Fate: The Desert Perpetual” raid race in Destiny 2 during a recent developer livestream. This announcement hints at potential shifts from the established raid race format that players are accustomed to.

Historically, Guardians have been allotted 48 hours to complete raid races under “Contest Mode.” This challenging mode, active from the raid`s launch, significantly increases difficulty by reducing player damage, boosting enemy health, and demanding impeccable teamwork and strategy. While these races traditionally began on the Friday following a Tuesday expansion release, this schedule is now changing.

The “Edge of Fate” raid race is set to commence on Saturday, July 19, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT, concluding on Monday, July 21, at the same time.

Furthermore, an “Epic” version of the raid will be introduced several weeks after its initial launch. This iteration aims to expand the narrative and add new content. Bungie clarified that the base raid experience will not be diminished to facilitate the Epic version; rather, the Epic raid is designed to “enhance” the overall experience.

Preparing for the Raid Race

To prepare for the race, which starts merely four days post-expansion launch, Bungie advises players to complete the main campaign on Legendary difficulty to reach the recommended Power level. Players who finish the campaign on Normal difficulty will need to further grind for the minimum Power level required for “The Desert Perpetual,” which is yet to be confirmed.

Fireteams are not required to return to orbit upon completing the raid race, though all members must loot the final chest. Once the “World`s First” race concludes, Guardians will have the option to enter the raid at normal difficulty, rather than remaining in Contest Mode.
