Demonschool Postponed Due to Silksong and Crowded Release Schedule

The Impact of Hollow Knight: Silksong`s Surprise Debut

Ysbryd Games has officially announced the postponement of Demonschool`s release from September 3 to November 19. This decision, made after “agonized consideration,” comes as a response to an unexpectedly crowded release schedule, particularly following the announcement of Hollow Knight: Silksong, which was set to debut on September 4. This isn`t the first game delayed due to Silksong`s sudden announcement.

The publisher acknowledged that the short notice regarding Hollow Knight: Silksong`s release—just one day before Demonschool`s planned launch—left no alternative. Brian Kwek, founder of Ysbryd Games, described the situation as “even crueler.”

Launching a game in 2025, especially in early autumn, is becoming increasingly challenging due to the influx of major titles like the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Ghost of Yotei, all releasing within weeks of each other. For those unfamiliar, Demonschool is a new-style tactical RPG with a noticeable influence from the Persona series.

Demonschool`s New Release Window and Enhanced Content

“If September is going to be Silksong`s moment, then we need to be elsewhere on the calendar to give Demonschool its own moment to be seen and talked about meaningfully,” Kwek continued, adding, “there are no more delays after this point.” The postponement also allows for the inclusion of additional content at launch, including alternate endings and minigames that were initially planned for post-release updates.

Demonschool will be available on all major current platforms, including PC via Steam. Ysbryd and developer Necrosoft Games expressed gratitude to fans for their patience and enthusiasm. “We truly hope you continue to support Necrosoft Games` labor of love by showing up for Faye and her madcap band of collegiate demon hunters on November 19th,” Kwek concluded.

Developer`s Perspective on the Delay

“This was not our choice, but we understand why the choice was made. We aren`t mad at Ysbryd but at the situation. Dropping the `GTA of indie games` with two weeks` notice makes everyone freak out,” Necrosoft Games stated in a Bluesky post. “Ysbryd is being a good partner and is covering the costs of the delay. We`re sorry this is happening.” Ironically, a release date had been anticipated for quite some time, and the original September date was only confirmed a few weeks prior.
