Surgent Studios, known for “Tales of Kenzera: Zau,” recently unveiled their latest title, “Dead Take,” which is set for a surprisingly near release.
A recent trailer confirmed that this first-person psychological horror game, featuring Ben Starr and Neil Newbon and published by Pocketpair Publishing (of Palworld fame), will launch on PC on July 31st. The trailer also showcased other notable voice talents, such as BAFTA winner Jane Perry (known for “Returnal” and “Hitman”) and Alannah Pearce (“Cyberpunk 2077,” “V/H/S/Beyond”).
Additionally, the game will feature cameo appearances from a stellar cast including BAFTA winner Laura Bailey (“The Last of Us Part 2”), Matthew Mercer (“Critical Role”), Travis Willingham (“Marvel Rivals”), and CDawgVA (“Honkai: Star Rail”). Notably, game developer Sam Lake, widely recognized as the face of the original Max Payne, will also appear.
Players will step into the shoes of Chase Lowry, portrayed by Newbon, as he investigates a secluded Hollywood mansion to uncover the mystery behind his friend Vinny Monroe`s (Starr) disappearance. The exploration will reveal live-action audition tapes, promising immersive screen performances from the actors.
Creative director Abubakar Salim stated in a press release that “Dead Take” deeply explores the world of actors. He explained: “We sought actors who truly understand this experience. It’s a game about the high of ambition and the rot underneath it. The lies we tell ourselves to get in the spotlight, and the monsters we become to stay there. Every member of our cast has intimately known this pressure, and this project offered them an opportunity to express those profound feelings.”
