David Hayter “Would Have Loved” A Redo With Metal Gear Solid Delta

David Hayter, the iconic voice behind Snake (both Naked and Solid), has expressed a desire for a chance to re-record his lines for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a modern remake of the 2004 PS2 classic.

In an interview with Inverse, Hayter mused that his acting abilities have grown over time, suggesting he could enhance the original dialogue for the new version. He admitted with a chuckle:

“I do feel that I`m a little better of an actor now than I was then. It was fine back in the day, but I would have loved to bring some of the knowledge that I`ve picked up over the past 20 years to it.”

Hayter remains eager to lend his voice to future Metal Gear Solid projects, should Konami entrust the franchise to new developers. He affirmed his commitment, stating:

“Anytime they ask me to be Snake, I`m in. It`s the definitive role in my life. It`s so complex and so profound, and there are so many different aspects to both him and Big Boss. So anytime it comes up, I’m down.”

He also reflected on being replaced by Kiefer Sutherland in 2013 for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, a decision that was initially difficult. However, Hayter recently shared that he has since found peace with the situation regarding “The Phantom Pain.”

Metal Gear Solid Delta is scheduled to release on August 28 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A new online multiplayer mode, Fox Hunt, will be added in the fall, though it will not support cross-platform play.
