Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion Limited Edition Back in Stock for Friday Launch

The Limited Edition of the mecha-action game “Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion” has been restocked at Amazon and Walmart. This comes just before its launch on September 5 for PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Having been sold out at most major retailers for the majority of the summer, the $100 Limited Edition offers a collection of exclusive items for just $30 more than the standard version across all three console platforms.

Marvelous, the developer and publisher, confirms that the physical edition of “Titanic Scion” for Switch 2 will include the complete game on the cartridge. This follows a trend seen in their other Switch 2 releases, such as “Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma” (a launch title) and “Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar” (released last week). Given “Titanic Scion”`s eShop file size of 22.9GB, choosing the physical version helps conserve a significant portion of the Switch 2`s 256GB internal storage. Notably, “Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion” will not be released on the original Nintendo Switch.

“Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion” is set in a post-apocalyptic world where individuals with unique abilities rise against humanity. These “Outers” seize control of orbital defense satellites, establishing a tyrannical rule over the planet. The game unfolds through intense mech battles as various factions vie for global dominance. Players can personalize their “Arsenal” (mech) and engage in the open world either solo or cooperatively with up to two friends online.

“Titanic Scion” is the successor to “Daemon X Machina,” which first launched as a Nintendo Switch exclusive in 2019. While Marvelous brought the original game to PC in 2020, “Titanic Scion” signifies the franchise`s first appearance on PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles. The original received a 7/10 rating from GameSpot, praised for its captivating mech combat and intricate lore.

Although previous players might benefit from a deeper understanding of the lore, Marvelous has designed the sequel to be accessible to newcomers. The narrative of “Titanic Scion” is set 300 years after the events of the first game, ensuring that all characters and plot developments will be fresh for every player.

For those interested in playing the original “Daemon X Machina,” be aware that its price remains relatively high. The digital version is still $60 on the Switch eShop, and physical copies have been out of production for a long time. Currently, a reputable third-party seller on Walmart lists the Switch version for $66, while PC players can acquire a Steam key for $42.49 (originally $50) from Fanatical using the promo code FANATICAL15.

Marvelous Inc.`s Approach to Nintendo Switch 2 Games: Full Game on Cartridge

“Titanic Scion” launches merely a week after Marvelous introduced “Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar,” the newest installment in the popular farming simulation series. “Grand Bazaar” is available for Switch 2 in a $60 standard edition and an $80 Premium Edition. “Guardians of Azuma” is currently priced at $60 (down from $70) on Amazon. Although the “Earth Dancer Limited Edition” for “Guardians of Azuma” was exclusively released on the original Switch, both physical and digital versions of this Rune Factory title can be upgraded for Switch 2 via the eShop for $10.

As previously highlighted, all three of Marvelous` Switch 2 titles—”Titanic Scion” (22.9GB), “Guardians of Azuma” (18GB), and “Grand Bazaar” (7.7GB)—come with the complete game pre-loaded onto the game card. The file sizes for their digital counterparts are noted to illustrate the storage savings achieved by opting for physical editions.

“Cyberpunk 2077” stands out as another significant third-party title that offers a genuinely physical release. Considering that CD Projekt Red`s expansive open-world RPG requires a substantial 60GB for its digital version, the physical edition presents an even greater advantage in terms of storage conservation.

Regrettably, many upcoming and currently available third-party games for Switch 2 are adopting “Game-Key Cards.” These cartridges essentially function as license keys, requiring players to download the game from the eShop. While Game-Key Cards offer the benefit of resale (unlike pure digital downloads), they do not alleviate the burden on the console`s internal storage, as the game still needs to be downloaded, just as if purchased directly from the eShop.
