Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 Notes: New Auto-Driving Cars, Improved Photo Mode, And More

CD Projekt Red has unveiled the details for Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3, introducing several significant features to its sprawling open-world game. During a recent livestream, associate game director Paweł Sasko and other team members showcased how this update primarily aims to enhance the immersive experience of Night City by adding new vehicles, an innovative AutoDrive feature, and further improvements to the game`s popular photo mode. The update is set to launch on July 17 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, with a release for Switch 2 planned for a later date.

Here’s a concise overview of everything revealed during the broadcast:

Even More Vehicles to Collect

Vehicle enthusiasts will be able to expand V’s garage with three new cars and an additional motorcycle upon completing specific quests. Sasko clarified that these quests will not contribute to achieving a 100% game completion, and initiating them will be straightforward. Below is the complete list of new vehicles obtainable through these new side-jobs:

  • Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru: Acquired after completing the side-jobs “The Hunt” and “The Beast In Me.” An additional side-job will unlock the CrystalCoat feature for this vehicle.
  • Rayfield Caliburn Mordred: Rewarded after finishing the side-jobs “The Beast in Me: Badlands,” “The Beast in Me: Santo Domingo,” “Transmission,” and “Search & Destroy.”
  • Yaiba ASM-R250 Muramasa: Unlocked after purchasing one Yaiba vehicle, acquiring three vehicles through Autofixer, and completing the side-job “Reported Crime: You Play with Fire.”
  • Chevillon Legatus 450 Aquila: Available for direct purchase via Autofixer.

AutoDrive to Survive

For those who wish to simply soak in the sights and sounds of Night City from the comfort of their favorite car, the new AutoDrive feature makes it possible to go hands-free while cruising. This new mode, integrated into your vehicles via an in-universe software update, transforms your car into a self-driving entity that adheres to road rules when active. It requires you to be on a designated road to function, offering a convenient way to navigate the city.

The AutoDrive function also includes a “wandering” mode for leisurely exploration and is compatible with motorcycles. Should you come under attack, the feature will automatically deactivate. Furthermore, a new “Cinematic Camera” option allows players to view their driving sessions from unique and dynamic angles.

Delamain Taxis Are Also Available to Call

For a hands-off touring experience, players can now summon one of Cyberpunk 2077`s iconic AI taxis, driven by Delamain, for a modest fee. This convenient feature becomes accessible after completing the “Don`t Lose Your Mind” job.

One of the Best Photo Modes in Video Games Is About to Become Even Better

Cyberpunk 2077’s already comprehensive photo mode is receiving significant enhancements with new options. Players can now select from 27 new NPCs, adjust the time of day, and control the weather conditions to perfectly capture their desired snapshot. Additional stickers and frames are being introduced, the depth-of-field setting has been refined, and a new Color Balance tab enables the creation of custom filters.

Console and PC Upgrades

For players seeking peak graphical performance, Cyberpunk 2077 will gain support for AMD FSR 3.1 once the update is installed, with FSR 4 support planned for a later release. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users will also benefit from added Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support.

More Cars Can Use CrystalCoat

If you admire the custom looks of vehicles in Night City, the CrystalCoat cosmetic option is now being expanded to include more partner brand vehicles, including motorcycles. This allows for greater personalization with custom color schemes. Several lower-end vehicles will also gain access to this visual customization feature.

Everything Else

The update concludes with a lengthy list of refinements and quality-of-life adjustments for Cyberpunk 2077. These include resolving various issues from side-jobs, improving the HDR setting screen, and correcting several in-game visual glitches.

Quality of Life & Accessibility

  • The game will now detect if the player is using inverted mouse button settings and automatically adjusts in-game button prompts accordingly.
  • Added an option to toggle aiming down sights in Settings – Controls.

Jobs & Open World

  • Cyberpsycho Sighting: Bloody Ritual – The `Crack the ritualist`s shard` objective now properly disappears from the Journal after completing the objective.
  • Sex on Wheels – Now properly appears in the Journal after receiving the message from Jake Estevez.
  • Shot by Both Sides – Fixed an issue where selecting a specific dialogue option in the conversation with Bree created a nameless, iconless item in the player’s Inventory.
  • Shot by Both Sides – Fixed an issue where the button to go to the lower level didn’t appear on the elevator panel.

Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue where, when using a controller in Trauma Drama, the controllable character would default to shooting upwards instead of forward.
  • Players can now drop more Cyberware Capacity Shards if some within the intended drop limit were previously missed.
  • Fixed an issue causing automatic weapons to fire slower than intended.
  • Fixed an issue where the Official BARGHEST Tac Vest didn’t drop from the scripted Airdrop as intended.

  • Fixed an issue where the sound of V’s Radioport could be randomly interrupted by the Radioports of nearby NPCs.
  • Fixed an issue where “History” by Gazelle Twin and “Trash Generation” played too loudly compared to other songs on the radio.
  • Improved the HDR Setting screen: fixed the HDR calibration preview so it correctly reflects the chosen settings, and clarified the description of the `Tone-Mapping Midpoint` setting.
  • Updated the End User Licence Agreement. You will be asked to accept it again when you load the game after updating.
  • Fixed several visual issues with missing, clipping, or floating textures.
  • Fixed several localization issues in various languages.
