Pywel is a vast world, yet even within Crimson Desert, there are defined map limits that players cannot go beyond. It appears Pearl Abyss has devised a truly distinctive solution to prevent adventurers from venturing into restricted areas.
Depending on one’s sensitivity to spoilers, the following information might be considered as such. However, it is not a sensitive element regarding the game’s overarching story or plot, and many players might have already witnessed it. Nevertheless, we provide this advisory.
As can be seen in the accompanying video, Pearl Abyss’s approach combines classic on-screen warnings with a dramatically explicit in-game event that unmistakably signals that further progression is impossible.
A Terrible and Majestic End
Essentially, if you navigate beyond Pywel’s established map boundaries, you are seemingly met with a dramatic end by a gigantic whale. The full scene isn’t entirely depicted, but the implication is quite clear, especially considering the immense size of the creature involved.
In the video, the protagonist is shown rowing their boat towards Pywel’s outermost limits, receiving explicit warnings that they are approaching a forbidden zone.
From that point, the sea grows restless, with ripples quickly transforming into menacing waves. Finally, a colossal cetacean emerges, which, from what can be inferred, subjects the hero to a fate reminiscent of Pinocchio’s (though presumably without the adventurous escape alongside Geppetto).
This serves as another demonstration of Crimson Desert’s rather peculiar and distinctive personality. The game, in the meantime, continues to establish itself strongly in the market, having recently achieved a new sales milestone.
