Conan O’Brien’s ‘Clueless Gamer’ Returns with Borderlands 4 for a Good Cause

The much-loved `Clueless Gamer` segment, starring comedian and host Conan O`Brien, has made a triumphant return. In its newest installment, O`Brien dives into the world of Borderlands 4, all in support of a worthy charitable initiative.

For this special episode, O`Brien is joined by Brian Long and Liz Day, who emerged as the highest bidders in a CharityBuzz auction benefiting Next for Autism. Staying true to his celebrated style, O`Brien infuses the segment with his characteristic humor, playfully ridiculing the game and showcasing his deliberately poor gameplay. He particularly enjoys mocking the notoriously annoying character Claptrap and raises humorous questions about the necessity of any significant storyline in such an over-the-top gaming experience.

The episode features Conan O`Brien`s entertaining and humorous interactions with the game and his special guests.

Next for Autism is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating and launching programs designed to support individuals with autism. Long and Day secured this unique opportunity to play a game alongside O`Brien through their generous winning bids in the charity auction.

`Clueless Gamer` was once a highly anticipated and regularly featured series, accumulating millions of views across its numerous episodes before entering a hiatus. The last episode prior to the recent Borderlands 4 feature was released in 2024, where O`Brien explored the director`s cut of Death Stranding.

Among the segment`s memorable moments is an episode where comedic actors Seth Rogen and Zach Efron famously drew on O`Brien`s face during a lively game of Mario Kart 8. The immense popularity of the show even prompted discussions at TBS about developing a `Clueless Gamer` spin-off series, though this project ultimately did not come to fruition.

Borderlands 4 is set to officially launch on September 12, with early access becoming available at 9 PM PT on September 11. Gamers can look forward to its release this week on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 scheduled for October.
