The series began with the original Child`s Play film in 1988. Its plot centers on a serial killer who uses a voodoo ritual to transfer his soul into a doll named Chucky to escape death. The first movie was unexpectedly successful, leading to two sequels released in 1990 and 1991, as Chucky repeatedly found ways to return from apparent demise.
