Celebrating thirty years since the debut of the original Heroes of Might & Magic, Ubisoft has made a significant announcement: two classic installments of the iconic series are now accessible to subscribers of PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
During a special showcase commemorating the franchise`s 30th anniversary, Ubisoft confirmed the addition of Heroes of Might & Magic II: Gold and Heroes of Might & Magic III: Complete to the Game Pass library. Commenting on the news, Chris Watters, an Ubisoft employee and former GameSpot editor, humorously remarked:
I can think of no better way to teach a new generation the meaning of key words like throng, necromancy, and logistics.
Unfortunately, the company also revealed a delay for the next title in the series, Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, which is now slated for a 2026 release. Nevertheless, a demo version is currently available on Steam. This upcoming game marks the franchise`s first new entry since 2015, when Might & Magic Heroes 7 was released.
Additionally, the livestream featured the “Heroes of Might & Magic: 30th Anniversary Retrospective” art book, which is available for pre-order on Amazon for $55, ahead of its November 25 release.
Finally, it`s worth noting recent criticisms directed at Microsoft. Laura Fryer, an original member of the Xbox team, characterized Microsoft`s Game Pass price increase as a “betrayal” of player trust. She further suggested that the current Xbox console generation would “almost certainly be remembered first and foremost for Microsoft`s greed.”
