Capcom has issued a significant warning to players regarding the future compatibility of its recent Monster Hunter titles with Windows 10. Following a successful launch for Monster Hunter Wilds earlier in 2025, which sold an impressive 10 million copies in its first month despite experiencing some PC performance issues and a subsequent sales decline, the company now states that three key games – Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise, and Monster Hunter Wilds – may no longer be guaranteed to run on Windows 10 after Microsoft officially discontinues support for the operating system.
In a message posted on Steam, Capcom reiterated Microsoft`s upcoming cessation of Windows 10 support, which is scheduled for October 14. As a direct consequence of this policy change, Capcom announced that it “will no longer guarantee that Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise, and Monster Hunter Wilds will run on Windows 10 systems” from that date forward.
While Capcom noted that these games might still be playable on Windows 10 even after this impending deadline, it strongly cautioned that any subsequent game updates released for these titles could potentially introduce incompatibilities, rendering them unplayable or unstable for users still operating on Windows 10 machines.
In related news, a Capcom executive recently attributed the sales decline of Monster Hunter Wilds to the high price of PS5 consoles. Although Capcom acknowledged the game`s PC performance problems back in June, and saw a notable surge in players after a subsequent update, a more comprehensive fix for broader PC issues is not expected until winter, despite another patch having been released last month.
Meanwhile, Capcom launched an exciting crossover event between Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy 14 earlier this week. The publisher also teased the highly anticipated return of the elder dragon Gogmazios in the upcoming December Free Title Update 4, promising new challenges for hunters.
