The anticipated Season 5 update for Call of Duty is on its way, bringing a significant alteration to Warzone: Activision has revealed that the stadium will become a fully accessible and playable area.
Alongside this, a new 36-player game mode called `Stadium Resurgence` will be introduced. Described as a `rapid action mode,` it will feature intense, quick skirmishes concentrated exclusively within the stadium. This new mode is scheduled to launch during the second week of Season 5.

Activision has also hinted at a larger, more impactful event concerning the stadium, stating that `a massive disruption across Verdansk is imminent.` This tease was accompanied by an image depicting a red beam descending from the sky, suggesting a mysterious and powerful force at play.
According to Activision, “Recon teams have confirmed a covert military base hidden inside the sealed walls of the National Acropolis Arena. The precise nature of the threat is yet unknown, but a weapon capable of widespread devastation is anticipated to be discovered nearby.” This revelation adds a new layer of intrigue to the unfolding narrative.

Furthermore, a new `Satellite Hijack` contract will be available in Warzone, tasking players with an explosive breach of the stadium. Activision`s official blog post on this contract features redacted portions, implying significant narrative implications that the developers wish to keep secret for now. One such redacted detail concerns a special award players and their team will earn upon successful completion of the contract.

Beyond these Warzone-specific updates, Season 5 will also introduce a broader range of new content, including additional maps, diverse game modes, a selection of new weapons, fresh operators, and an exclusive BlackCell bundle, among other exciting additions.
Looking ahead, the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 7, is slated for release later this year. Activision plans to reveal more comprehensive details about this upcoming game at Gamescom in August, building anticipation for its launch.
