During the Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal event, EA heavily hinted at the reintroduction of a battle royale mode, seemingly a revamped version of Firestorm from Battlefield V.
A teaser video displayed soldiers dispersing across a tropical landscape, with the camera zooming out to reveal a colossal “firestorm” descending a mountain. While specific names like “battle royale” or “Firestorm” weren`t explicitly used by the developers, the implication was unmistakable. Players will have the opportunity to experience this new mode through the Battlefield Labs testing program.
Although the event hosts referenced the mode as “Firestorm,” official confirmation was withheld.
The original Firestorm mode in Battlefield V was an integrated feature, accessible only to game owners. It`s currently unclear whether the potential new iteration will be a standalone release or exclusively bundled with a Battlefield 6 purchase.
Upon its 2018 release, Firestorm was widely perceived as an underdeveloped attempt by EA to capitalize on the then-surging popularity of battle royale games.
Battlefield 6 is set to launch on October 10th. The standard edition will be priced at $70, while the Phantom Edition will cost $100. An open beta for Battlefield 6 is scheduled to commence in August.
