Battlefield Studios has announced plans to eliminate “XP farms” in Battlefield 6 and significantly enhance player progression. A recent update, now rolling out across all platforms, will boost experience points gained from match completion by 10%, and XP from daily challenges will increase by 40%.
Furthermore, the experience required to unlock the first 20 Attachment Ranks has been reduced. Another significant adjustment involves assignments that previously demanded reaching career ranks 20, 23, and 26; these will now require ranks 10, 15, and 20, respectively.
These changes are being implemented amid reports of servers being overcrowded with players exploiting bots to quickly accumulate XP, thereby improving their stats without facing the challenge of human opponents.
“We completely understand the motivations behind this—such as the desire for faster progression or testing loadouts without pressure—but it has led to unintended consequences,” Battlefield Studios stated in a social media post. “With so many servers dedicated to XP farming rather than active play, it has become notably harder for players to create and find matches with other people. Our goal is to reinforce player-driven experiences that bring people together, while still allowing room for custom setups, creativity, and new ideas.”
The studio clarified that it is developing adjustments to reduce the number of active XP farms, which will, in turn, free up server space for genuine player interactions. Additionally, future updates will include tweaks to gameplay and the notably bright lighting in Battlefield 6.
Battlefield 6 has achieved the “biggest opening ever” for the Battlefield series, as confirmed by EA this week. The game has sold over 7 million copies to date across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. On Steam, Battlefield 6 reached a peak concurrent player count of over 747,000. It remains to be seen how many of these players will stay for the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 1 on October 28. Next month, Battlefield 6`s long-standing rival, Call of Duty, will release a new installment in the Black Ops series.
