Battlefield 6 Will Add Something Close To An Ultimate Ability For Each Class

In Battlefield 6, player classes will gradually acquire passive benefits throughout a match, culminating in the availability of a potent active ability.

This new system is part of developer DICE`s effort to emphasize the distinct strengths of each class in the upcoming game. In a recent community blog post, DICE shared more details about the revised class structure, following their previous announcement that Battlefield 6 would not restrict weapon usage by class.

The new feature is called “Training.” For each class, players can select one of two different Training paths. Progress in Training is gained during a match by completing objectives or participating in team actions. As Training levels up, players receive more passive bonuses specific to their class. Upon reaching level three in Training, a unique active class ability becomes available for use.

As an illustration, DICE detailed the Recon class`s level-three Training ability: deploying a UAV that automatically spots enemies for a set duration. The specific passive abilities earned at levels zero, one, and two differ depending on whether the player chooses the Sniper or Pathfinder Training path, but the level-three active ability is the same for the class. Activating the level-three ability resets the Training level back to two, allowing players to start rebuilding the charge to use it again.

Using the Recon class example further, selecting the Sniper Training path grants improved spotting capabilities at level zero and, at level two, makes enemies defeated by sniper headshots unrevivable. Conversely, choosing the Pathfinder Training path provides faster movement while crouched and prone at level zero, and causes damaged enemies to be automatically spotted at level two. A visual representation of the Recon Training progression was also shared.

Each class will have two Training paths to choose from, culminating in an active ability.
Each class offers two distinct Training paths, leading to a powerful active ability.

Training appears to be a significant new system in Battlefield 6. DICE stated its purpose is to motivate players to perform effectively in their chosen roles and to encourage teamplay. While DICE did not reveal the level-three abilities for the other three classes yet, they confirmed the system was included in the last two Battlefield Lab play sessions.

DICE also outlined the signature weapon class, traits, and gadgets for each of the game`s four classes. Players can use any weapon with any class, but utilizing a class`s signature weapon type will provide additional passive benefits.

DICE is reportedly making continuous adjustments based on feedback from various Battlefield Lab playtests. They noted the removal of Ballistic Armor following player comments and are working on further improvements to movement, animations, and vehicle handling.

Players interested in getting hands-on experience with the new Battlefield can sign up for Battlefield Labs for a chance to participate in future playtests. During an earnings call in May, EA CEO Andrew Wilson announced that Battlefield 6 would be fully revealed this summer, with the game expected to launch before March 2026.
