Battlefield Studios has confirmed that Battlefield 6 will feature a server browser, though its functionality will mirror that of Battlefield 2042`s version and comes with significant limitations.
According to an official FAQ, Battlefield 6`s Portal mode will include a server browser, making it easy to find desired game types directly from the main menu. However, an official server browser for standard servers will not be available.
The Portal mode, first introduced in Battlefield 2042, enabled players to create and customize their own game modes with unique rules and settings. In Battlefield 6, this feature expands further, allowing players to design their own maps.
Fans value a server browser for the freedom it offers: the ability to select specific maps, game modes, and find low-ping servers in their preferred region. While there won`t be a dedicated browser for official Battlefield 6 servers, it`s anticipated that players will independently recreate official server experiences within Portal. However, this might not ensure an optimal gameplay experience.
Battlefield 6 producer Alexia Christofi actively engaged in discussions regarding the importance of server browsers, inviting players to share their reasons for needing an official version. The community responded en masse, and Christofi highlighted their main points.
Christofi further stated that Battlefield 6`s server browser, accessible through Portal, effectively “addresses all these desires.” She acknowledged that it “is only available via Portal and displays community-created experiences,” but emphasized that players can earn full XP in these modes, which will be prominently featured in Battlefield 6`s main menu.
Without a server browser for official servers in Battlefield 6, players will rely on a matchmaking system across various playlists. Players can experience this system firsthand during the upcoming Battlefield 6 open beta, scheduled to begin on August 7.
