Battlefield 6 Open Beta Hinted at by Datamining Leak

Recent datamining activities suggest that an open beta phase for the upcoming Battlefield game (presently referred to as Battlefield 6) might be in the works. Currently, the game is only accessible through a closed alpha testing program.

As reported by MP1ST, dedicated Battlefield players analyzing the code of the newest client update for the Battlefield Labs test discovered a text string that mentions a `Battlefield 6 open beta.` Since internal code like this is not meant for public viewing, it`s possible that `Battlefield 6` is just a placeholder name, or even that the reference to an open beta itself is merely temporary or non-final.

Past datamining efforts concerning the game have previously provided glimpses into rumored features, including a potential battle royale mode and details about the single-player campaign.

The Battlefield Labs test is a closed program, meaning access requires being selected after signing up. While tests are ongoing and registration is open, EA has stated its intention to allow more people to play the game before its official release. However, the company has not yet made any formal announcements regarding an open beta. Such a move wouldn`t be unprecedented, as titles like Battlefield 2042 and others in the franchise have historically featured open betas before launch.

EA is set to formally unveil the next Battlefield title sometime this summer. Some fans had speculated a reveal might occur in June alongside numerous other industry events, but this did not happen. Now, theories are circulating that the official reveal of Battlefield 6 might coincide with an announcement confirming an open beta, though none of this information is currently confirmed.

The upcoming Battlefield game marks the first new entry in the series since 2021`s Battlefield 2042. That game received a mixed reception, with EA management citing challenges partly due to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic as a contributing factor. Despite this, Battlefield 2042 was still the fifth best-selling game in the United States in 2021.

In separate news related to the game, EA and DICE have commented on the possibility of “ultimate-like” abilities being included in Battlefield 6 and defended their decision regarding weapons not being tied to specific player classes.
