Battlefield 6: Movement Changes Are “Not Drastic,” Says Developer

DICE has introduced adjustments to movement mechanics in Battlefield 6 following the beta, specifically implementing a penalty for repeated jumps that reduces subsequent jump height. The speed gained from a slide-into-jump maneuver has also been reduced. However, Florian `DRUNKKZ3` Le Bihan, the principal game designer, assures players these changes are not significant.

Le Bihan explained that overall movement is becoming more responsive, addressing previously clunky areas with quality improvements and polish. He clarified that the jump changes involve “diminishing returns,” meaning initial jumps or slides are unaffected. The goal, he stated, is to preserve a skill-based movement system without allowing it to become excessive.

Balancing Rush Mode and Weapons

The development team also justified the revised Rush mode in the beta, which features smaller 24-player lobbies (12v12). They stated that Rush mode functions best with this player count.

Another adjustment planned before launch is a nerf to the M87A1 shotgun, which was considered overpowered during the beta. This change will make it require “more pellets to secure a kill.”

Record-Breaking Beta and Release Information

According to EA, the recent playtest set a new record as the largest beta in Battlefield history, with research suggesting over 20 million participants.

Battlefield 6 is scheduled to release on October 10 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
