Shared by user Ter-Lee-Comedy on the Battlefield subreddit, this footage from a recent playtest clearly shows weapons becoming progressively covered in mud, blood, and grime during combat. This popular visual detail was present in Battlefield 1 and its successor, Battlefield V, but was notably absent from 2021`s Battlefield 2042.
In addition to the video, Ter-Lee-Comedy also provided a striking before-and-after comparison. One screenshot depicted a pristine weapon from the Battlefield 6 open beta, contrasted with the same weapon heavily caked in grime from a more recent test build.
The visual transformation is quite significant, making the dirt-covered weapon appear deeply encrusted with mud. Although this accumulation of dirt and mud on weaponry is purely cosmetic and has no impact on gameplay mechanics, it`s a highly valued visual feature that many players believe greatly enhances battle immersion. However, it`s crucial to remember that its presence in a playtest does not guarantee its inclusion in the final launch version of Battlefield 6.
This feature, alongside the promised increase in environmental destructibility (an aspect players felt was missing in Battlefield 2042), suggests that Battlefield 6 is aiming to rekindle the elements that fans cherished in earlier installments.
