Battlefield 6 File Size: Smaller Than Anticipated

Battlefield 6`s initial reported file size, ranging from 55GB to 80GB on Steam, is surprisingly moderate compared to many contemporary titles, despite being substantial.

An EA representative explained to PC Gamer that this variable size is due to the game`s modular installation option, allowing players to selectively install specific components like the single-player campaign or multiplayer modes.

While the precise sizes for individual components remain undisclosed, it is currently unknown if this flexible installation feature will extend to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. Further details are being sought from EA regarding this.

In contrast, Call of Duty, a major competitor in the FPS genre, is notorious for its exceptionally large installation footprints. However, similar to Battlefield, Call of Duty titles also offer players the choice to install only certain game segments, such as the campaign or multiplayer.

Notably, the Call of Duty HQ launcher, which houses recent franchise titles, recently experienced a significant reduction in size following the removal of two major games from its platform.

The open beta for Battlefield 6 is scheduled to commence on August 7 for an exclusive group, with wider availability later in the month. Preloading is already accessible across all platforms.
