Launching today, October 10th, Battlefield 6 is poised for an exceptionally successful market entry. According to a recent newsletter from analyst Rhys Elliott of Aliena Analytics, the game impressively amassed 1.8 million pre-sales solely on Steam prior to its official launch. This substantial figure translates into a staggering revenue exceeding $100 million. As of now, Battlefield 6 stands as the top-selling title on Steam, both in the United States and globally.
Elliott commented on the game`s outstanding performance, noting, “All indications leading up to launch suggest that the Battlefield franchise has definitively reasserted its presence. Our projections point to a synergistic blend of factors, including considerable pent-up consumer demand following a series of past challenges, coupled with a compelling narrative of a major comeback for the series.”
It is important to highlight that these impressive sales statistics are exclusive to the Steam platform. Battlefield 6 is also available on other prominent gaming consoles, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While the game is not part of the Game Pass subscription, players have the option to acquire the $100 edition through an EA Play Pro subscription, available at a monthly cost of $17.
Prior to these record-breaking pre-sale numbers, Elliott had expressed optimism regarding Battlefield 6`s potential to generate significant earnings for EA. However, his earlier forecasts suggested that it would likely not surpass the sales figures of its primary competitor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
In his newsletter, Elliott further speculated that the strong commercial performance of Battlefield 6 could offer a degree of protection for its development teams. This success might shield them from being potentially divested or closed, a possibility that had been raised in earlier reports amid EA`s ongoing sale to a private consortium. Such reports indicated that certain development studios within the Battlefield ecosystem could face restructuring or dissolution if the game had underperformed.
Elliott also suggested that EA`s planned “efficiency rounds” – essentially organizational cuts – might commence around the year 2027. During this period, EA could potentially streamline its portfolio by disposing of studios primarily dedicated to single-player game development. He cited veteran RPG studio BioWare and Motive, which was responsible for developing Battlefield 6`s campaign, as examples of teams that could be affected.
Upon its release, Battlefield 6 received a comprehensive day-one update. This significant patch introduced more than 200 fixes, various adjustments, and overall improvements designed to enhance the gameplay experience. For players eager to jump into the game, a wealth of external resources, including detailed reviews and practical tips, are readily available to help ensure a smooth and optimized start to their Battlefield 6 journey.
