Ball X Pit: A New Roguelite Gem for Xbox Game Pass & More

Devolver Digital and developer Kenny Sun have officially announced that their action roguelite, Ball X Pit, will launch on October 15. This exciting title, revealed during the recent Nintendo Indie World presentation, is set to arrive directly on Xbox Game Pass. It will also be available for purchase on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. For fans of games like Vampire Survivors and Loop Hero, Ball X Pit promises a similar addictive experience and is also planned for a Nintendo Switch 2 release later this year.

Gamers eager to experience Ball X Pit can still download a free demo on Steam, a preview first showcased during the Steam Next Fest in June. The core gameplay loop involves strategically utilizing and fusing more than 60 unique types of balls to decimate hordes of enemies. A satisfying visual element is added with numbers bursting from foes as they are defeated, indicating damage dealt.

Beyond the fast-paced, auto-scrolling combat, Ball X Pit introduces an intriguing base-building mechanic. Players will embark on a quest to rebuild “Ballbylon,” constructing a new community using over 70 different building units. This progression system is not just about aesthetics; it directly leads to acquiring powerful upgrades, special bonuses, and even unlocking new playable characters, enhancing the gameplay experience.

Ball X Pit was just one of several day-one Game Pass titles highlighted at the Nintendo Indie World Showcase. Other notable additions coming to Xbox`s subscription service include Winter Burrow, which is expected to arrive this winter alongside its Switch and Steam releases. Furthermore, Herdling and Ultimate Sheep Raccoon were also confirmed to be joining the Game Pass library, expanding the catalog for subscribers.

The Indie World Showcase also featured various other games that are either immediately available or slated for release soon on Switch platforms. Among these, a demo for Mina the Hollower, the anticipated next title from Yacht Club, the acclaimed developer behind Shovel Knight, is currently playable. The full version of Mina the Hollower is scheduled for release on October 31.
